Gently slide the file surface over your nail in one direction, NOT in a back-and-forth, see-saw manner. Repeat until you have the desired shape and smoothness. Your file can be washed with soap and water and left to air dry. It can also be scrubbed with a nail brush or even put in the dishwasher. To protect it from breaking, do not drop heavy objects on it or hit it against hard or sharp surfaces.
